Today is the first of many many events that have been planned in honor of this special, beautiful soul (At least here in the Philly area). The loss of Joel feels so deep. I just keep thinking how much the world needs him and what are going to do without him? We all definitely needed him more than he needed us. How much love he spread is so evident by the flood of social media posts, memorandum yoga classes, and other special memorandum events that are commencing today. I mean, he’s being honored by all of ISKON Philadelphia?!

I am truly honored I had the privilege of knowing you, finding guidance and mentorship in you, and most importantly friendship in you. Thank you Joel for teaching all of us how to love.

The name Joel Pier puts a sly smile across anyones face that knows him. I loved how he made it ok to be so so deeply spiritual and so so deeply human and messy at the same time. To us humans, timing never feels “right” but Krishna definitely always knows better than us. I love you Joel. There isn’t a yoga class that I take or teach where I don’t think of or channel you and all you’ve given. You will always be a reminder to me to love big and deep and live unapologetically. Now let’s all get together, share lots of love and tears and stories of this beautiful man. “FuckinA right?!”
